The PhD Summer School focused on the institutional politics of the European Union (EU), with particular focus on the challenges arising from the Lisbon Treaty reforms and the responses to the sovereign debt crisis in the Eurozone. Its purpose was to bring together PhD candidates from the participating institutions of the LISBOAN network in order to discuss the theoretical, empirical and research-strategic issues on the subject matter. Additionally, the purpose was to support PhD-students in furthering their research projects. The PhD School aimed at PhD students from various sub-disciplines including EU-studies, international relations, comparative politics, law, history and public administration.
The academic director and local organiser of the PhD School was Prof. Thomas Christiansen, Jean Monnet Professor of European Institutional Politics at Maastricht University. The event was sponsored by the LISBOAN Erasmus Academic Network (www.lisboan.net) and the University of Maastricht ( www.maastrichtuniversity.nl)
